Recipe: Brownies (with firm top crust)

BROWNIES

2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup margarine, melted
2 oz. unsweetened baking chocolate, melted
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup flour, sifted
1/8 tsp. salt
1 cup chopped walnuts, divided use

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Grease an 8-inch square baking pan.

Beat eggs until thickened and lemon color.

Gradually and thoroughly beat in sugar.

Melt margarine and chocolate together; cool slightly. Stir into sugar mixture with vanilla.

Add flour, salt and 3/4 cup of nuts (if desired); stir just until blended. Pour into greased 8-inch pan; sprinkle with remaining nuts.

Bake in moderate oven (375 degrees) for 17-20 minutes, just until a firm top crust is formed.
