Recipe(tried): Butterbeans (fresh or frozen)

Misc.

I cook mine in defatted chicken broth and water, for about 45 minutes and
season with a tsp. of salt per quart of beans, and a pinch of sugar. I do not
add any kind of fat. Until about ten years ago I added bacon drippings along
with the salt and sugar during the last 45 minutes of cooking. The most
important thing was to serve with cornbread, sliced onion, tomatoes, and a tall
glass of iced tea.
