Recipe(tried): Cake Transport

Tips and Tricks - Cooking
I have tried several methods, but I have settled on using freezer paper over cardboard. Cut the cardboard, using several layers for heavy cakes, about 1/2 inch wider than the cake bottom. Cut the freezer paper about two inches wider all around than the cardboard, fold under and then stick down with scotch tape or masking tape. Keep the shiny side up (this is very important). For round cakes you might cut the underside of the paper, like you do when sewing rounded edges. The freezer paper base will stand up to cutting the cake much better than foil. For the fanciest occasions use the decorative paper available at cake decoration stores.
