Recipe(tried): Candy Bars (oatmeal bars with chocolate-peanut butter topping)

CANDY BARS

1 cup brown sugar
2/3 cup butter, softened
4 cups quick-cooking oats, uncooked
1/2 cup Karo light corn syrup (or 1/4 cup corn syrup and 1/4 cup peanut butter)
3 tsp vanilla
FOR THE TOPPING:
1 (6 oz) pkg chocolate chips
1/3 to 2/3 cup creamy peanut butter

In a large bowl cream the brown sugar and butter and together. Add the other ingredients, except for the chocolate chips and the peanut butter.

In a greased cookie sheet pan (13x9x1/4-inch) pat the dough inside.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 15 to 16 minutes.

TO MAKE THE TOPPING:
Melt the chocolate chips with the 2/3 cup peanut butter. Spread on to the dough after slightly cooling. Cut into squares.
