Recipe: Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookies (using maraschino cherries)

CHERRY CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup margarine, softened
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
1 (4 oz.) jar red maraschino cherries, drained and chopped
1/4 cup chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

Sift together flour, salt, and baking soda; set aside.

Cream margarine with sugars and beat in egg. Stir in chocolate chips, cherries, walnuts, and dry ingredients. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls of batter on ungreased baking sheets, about 1 inch apart.

Bake for 8-10 minutes at 375 degrees. Let stand 1 minute and remove from baking sheets.
