Recipe: Chocolate Earthquake Cake (using cake mix)

CHOCOLATE EARTHQUAKE CAKE

1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup coconut
1 (18.5 oz) box German chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients to prepare cake mix)
1 stick (1/2 cup) butter or margarine, melted
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, room temperature
1 (16 ounce) box powdered sugar

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 9x13-inch pan.

Spread the pecans and coconut in the bottom of the pan; set aside.

Mix the cake according to package directions. Pour batter over the pecans and coconut.

Mix the butter, cream cheese and powdered sugar together. Spread over cake, keeping away from the sides of the pan.

Bake 40 to 45 minutes.

Makes 12-16 servings
