Here is a recipe for chow chow. If you look to the top of the messages, there is a box to type in to search previous posts. You may find the chutney recipe there. I am not clear if this is one recipe with peaches and tomatoes combined, or a recipe for each one. I can find recipes for each,but not combined.
CHOW- CHOW
2 quarts finely chopped cabbage
1 quart peeled chopped green tomatoes
6 medium onions, chopped
6 green peppers, coarsely chopped
6 red peppers, coarsely chopped
1/4 cup pickling salt
6 cups vinegar (5% acidity),
2 teaspoons dry mustard
2 1/2 cups sugar
2 tablespoons mustard seeds
1 tablespoons mixed pickling spices
1 1/2 teaspoons ground turmeric
1 teaspoon ground ginger
Combine vegetables and salt; stir well. Cover and
let stand 8 hrs. Drain well. Combine remaining ing.
in a large kettle. Bring to boil; reduce heat, and
simmer uncovered 20 minutes. Add vegetables; simmer 10 min.
Spoon hot mix. into hot sterilize jars. Remove air bubbles;
wipe jar rims. Cover at once with metal lids.
Process in boiling water bath 10 min. Yield 8 pts.
* (The chopping may be done in food processor if not over done)
