Very good advice Marilyn gave you!
And if all else fails:
1) Set a pot of water on the range. Add a couple of cinnamon sticks and cloves (if you have the latter) and boil to scent the kitchen with an apple-pie fragrance.
2) Or cook some bacon! The smell of that will linger, too, but it's much more appetizing than the smell of fried fish. (Bacon was the one thing that got the burnt-popcorn odor out of my microwave oven.)
