OK, I have been experimenting with some variations on my last post and I think I have hit a perfect substitute for you Cupid's fans. I keyed in on the tamale idea and have tried several types, mostly higher end fresh tamales with less then ideal results. Then I tried those low end supermarket tamales and BOOM that was it. OK so he is what I think is as close as one can get to the perfect Cupid's chili substitute. Scale up the recipe as required.
1 can of Hormel Chili NO BEANS
1 XLNT brand tamale (unfrozen)
Put all contents in a sauce pan over medium heat stir to break up the tamale. When the mixture is hot put it all in a blender and puree. Be careful not to let the hot steam burn you when you open the blender lid. Return to the sauce pan and reheat. Serve over a freshly steamed Vienna beef (sapppy) hot dog inside of a fresh bun with e little mustard and onion on top. I use Boar's Head Beef Frankfurters...mmmmmm.
I was amazed at how close this really turned out compared to a real Cupid's dog. Let me know what you think.
