Recipe(tried): Deep Fried Clams
Appetizers and Snacks If you are starting with fresh clams, soak overnight in a combination of water and cornmeal. The clams will spit out any of the sand remaining inside of shells. Then wash, pick out any that are open, cracked, etc. and place in large pot with a little bit of water to cover the bottom of the pan. Steam until opened. Remove meat. Mix egg with a little bit of water. Dip clam in egg mixture then in fine breadcrumbs. Repeat. Deep fry until golden. This is a very simple recipe but delicious.
