Recipe(tried): Diet Peach Ice Tea
BeveragesCacy, Here is what I do to make Diet Peach ice tea. Make this all the time, year round. It's the only tea I drink! Cannot give you the measurements of how much sweetner/sugar you should use or how much or many tea bags. When I make a pitcher of this (64 ounces) I use 8-10 tea bags...it's just going to depend on how strong or how weak you want your tea to be. You'll love the fresh taste of the peaches in this and will never go back to the powdered again!
DIET PEACH ICE TEA
Tea bags
Sugar or sweetner of your choice
Peach nectar (available in the fruit juice aisle in 4 oz cans in a 6 pack) or fresh peaches
Brew your tea with whatever brand you like (I always use Lipton's Decaf tea bags, not the quick ice tea or the tea bags for ice tea.
Sweeten the tea to your liking. You can use Splenda, Equal, regular sugar, or whatever.
They sell peach nectar, usually in the aisle where the fruit juices are. The only ones I have been able to find are in a 6 pack of 4 ounce cans, from Libby, I believe. Sorry, just used the last can yesterday and have no more to check, but quite sure, almost positive, it is Libby's brand. I usually pour one can of that into a pitcher that is just under 64 ounces. I make this by the pitcher-full.
If you cannot find the canned peach nectar, I have also used fresh peaches. I peel them, cut them into 1 inch slices or cubes and put them in the food processor. Process until a puree is made. If you do not have a FP, you can use the blender but add some of the tea liquid so it is easier to puree. When pureed, add them to the pitcher. Then fill the pitcher up with the water, to desired level and strength you like your tea to be.
I have also used a potato masher to mash the peaches when not around any appliance to do this!
If you need to take this with you, after making the pitcher, pour the prepared tea into one of those refillable, plastic water bottles.
