Double Crusty Bread

1 tbsp. active dry yeast
1 tbsp. sugar
2 cups lukewarm water
Put above in large bowl and proof about 8 minutes, or until bubbly.
Add:
1 tbsp. salt
1 tsp. vinegar
1 egg, lightly beaten
4 tsp. vegetable oil
about 6 cups flour

Beat until you can't, turn out and knead about 8-10 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. Put in greased bowl, cover and let rise until double. Punch down, let rise again. Turn out, shape into loaves, put into greased loaf pans and let rise until double. Bake in 350 deg.F. oven 30-40 minutes. I put on an egg wash before baking, and sprinkle with sesame seeds. If you double this recipe, as I do, do not double the egg, salt, or vinegar.
