DRUNKEN APPLES
(like drunken apple side made by Famous Dave's BBQ)
24 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and cut into semicircles
3 to 4 cups of white sugar (I used 3)
4 tablespoons of cinnamon
1 teaspoon of nutmeg
1/2 cup of rum
Mix apples with sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix in rum. Heat over medium heat until apple mixture is juicy and the juice boils. Boil for 20 minutes over medium heat.

SAUTEED APPLES
Source: Jenny
Yield: 4 cups
"This is great for any meal, but is great for breakfast. The syrup from the apples is great on homemade waffles. You may add raisins to the sauce if you wish."
1/4 cup butter
4 large tart apples - peeled, cored and sliced 1/4 inch thick
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1/2 cup cold water
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
In a large skillet or saucepan, melt butter over medium heat; add apples. Cook, stirring constantly, until apples are almost tender, about 6 to 7 minutes.
Dissolve cornstarch in water; add to skillet. Stir in brown sugar and cinnamon. Boil for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and serve warm.
Notes:
I love the drunken apples from Famous Dave's restaurant. To make this recipe more like Dave's I halfed a lemon, squeezed the juices into the apples as they simmered and even cooked the rind with the apples. Yum yum!
