FRESH MEXICAN SAUCE (SALSA MEXICANA CRUDA)
8 ounces (about 1 cup) tomatoes, finely chopped
1/2 cup finely chopped white onion
1/3 cup finely chopped cilantro
3 Serrano chilies (or any fresh, hot green chilies), minced (or to taste)
Salt (to taste)
1/3 cup water (optional)
Mix all the ingredients together well and serve at room temperature. (Refrigerate leftovers.)
Makes about 1 1/2 cups
