VANILLA GREEN BEANS AMANDINE
"An exciting twist on the traditional green bean casserole, this dish features an easy sauce made with vanilla, white wine and butter."
1 pound fresh green beans (or 16 ounces frozen green beans)
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon dry white wine
1 1/2 teaspoons McCormick Pure Vanilla Extract
1/2 teaspoon McCormick Onion Powder
1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup sliced almonds, toasted*
Rinse and trim green beans. Add beans to boiling water. Cook, uncovered, on medium-high heat 7-8 minutes. Drain. (For frozen green beans, cook following package directions. Drain.)
Melt butter in a small saucepan; stir in wine, vanilla, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer 2 minutes.
Toss butter sauce with cooked green beans. Top with toasted almonds.
*To toast sliced almonds, spread almonds in a single layer on baking sheet; bake at 350 degrees F for 3-5 minutes.
