Everyone's smart to be looking for alternatives to the old method of frosting grapes with egg whites. What a shame - but here's another way:

Paint grapes or other fruit with a pastry brush with light corn syrup. Then roll in granulated sugar to coat, and place on waxed paper coated cookie trays in refrig until ready to use.

This is a Kraft foods suggestion - I haven't tried it yet but it sure sounds like it should work!
