Recipe: Georgetown VFD Bar-B-Que Sauce (makes 2 1/2 quarts)

Toppings - Sauces and Gravies
GEORGETOWN VFD BAR-B-QUE SAUCE

The firemen of the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department only like to see one kind of smoke: that from barbecue pits. Every fall, the firefighters cook a barbecue dinner to raise funds.

8 cups catsup
1/2 cup (1 stick) margarine
1/2 cup prepared mustard
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped onion
Juice of 1 lemon
6 drops Tabasco sauce
Salt and black pepper to taste

In a large saucepan, combine all ingredients, stirring to mix well.

Simmer for 15 minutes.

Makes about 2 1/2 quarts
