1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
1 cup milk
2 cups cake flour, sifted
3 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
Cream shortening and sugar together.
Combine beaten eggs and milk and add alternately with combined dry ingredients to mixture. Turn into a greased and floured shallow pan (8 or 9-inch).
Bake in hot oven (450 degrees F) for 25 minutes.
Cut in 2-inch squares and serve hot with butter.
Makes about 24 pieces
