Gooey Peach Cobbler Virginia

1 1/2 sticks margarine or butter
1 cup flour plus 2 teaspoons cinnamon
3/4 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk plus 2 teaspoons vanilla
l large can sliced peaches with juice
12 maraschino cheeries(optional)

Preheat oven 350 degrees.

Melt butter or margarine in 9x12-inch pan in oven. Using at least 1/2 butter will make it more crispy.

Mix dry ingredients with milk, stir until blended. Pour dough over melted fat, do not stir.

Spoon peach slices over batter. Do not stir.

Gently pour peach juice over. Do not stir.

Stud top with cheeries and bake about 25 minutes. Top will brown.

As it cools. the gooey filling happens. Delicious served warm with vanilla ice cream.
