GUM DROP BREAD
3 c. applesauce
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
5 c. flour
4 tsp. soda
1 tsp. each nutmeg, allspice & salt
2 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
3 pkgs. sm. gum drops (no black ones)
1 1/2 c. raisins
Heat applesauce in saucepan. Add shortening and sugar; mix well. Cover; let stand overnight. Combine dry ingredients in large bowl; mix thoroughly. Blend in applesauce mixture. Stir gum drops and raisins into mixture. Pour into greased and floured loaf pans. Bake at 250 degrees for 2 hours.
NOTE: I have never made this recipe so I do not know what they mean by "package" for size/quantity so you will have to use your best judgement here.

Cool and slice.
