Recipe: Homemade Dumplings

Breads - Assorted
Holly,

My Mama makes the absolute best dumplings(according to our large family, and her many friends), and her recipe is simply all-purpose flour and ice water. Add ice cubes to a container of water and add the water to the flour until you have a dough about the consistency of a soft pastry dough. Roll out thin on a floured surface (sprinkle a little flour on the top, too), and cut into strips or squares. Drop carefully into boiling broth and cook until done; probably 20 minutes or so depending on the quantity. You may need to reduce the heat a little, and stir the dumplings gently every now and then. In my 50+ years I have never tasty better dumplings than these! I hope this is what you had in mind.
