Recipe: Italian Turkey Burgers
SandwichesITALIAN TURKEY BURGERS
1 pound ground turkey
1 tablespoon ground oregano
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
salt to taste
4 slices red onion, cut to 1/2-inch thickness
4 teaspoons olive oil
TO SERVE:
4 each hamburger rolls, split and lightly toasted
2 jarred roasted red peppers, drained and halved
2 tablespoons parmesan cheese, freshly grated
Prepare charcoal for grilling or heat broiler.
Gently mix ground turkey with oregano, garlic powder and pepper in a small mixing bowl. Gently shape into 4 patties, about 1-inch thick.
Grill or broil patties approximately 4 inches from source of heat. Cook patties about 14 to 15 minutes, turning once or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F.
Brush onion with half the oil and cook, turning once, brushing second side with remaining oil until brown, about 7 to 10 minutes.
TO SERVE:
Place turkey burger on roll. Top each with red pepper half, onion and Parmesan cheese, divided evenly.
