Recipe: Italiano Main Dish Soup (using bean with bacon and minestrone soups)

ITALIANO MAIN DISH SOUP

1/2 pound ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 medium clove garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon oregano leaves, crushed
2 tablespoons shortening
2 cups coarsely chopped cabbage
1 (11 1/2 ounce) can Campbell's Condensed Bean with Bacon Soup, undiluted
1 soup can water
1 (10 1/2 ounce) can Campbell's Condensed Minestrone Soup, undiluted
1 can (about 8 ounces) kidney beans, drained
1/2 teaspoon salt
Generous dash pepper

Shape beef into 18 meatballs. In large saucepan, brown meatballs and cook onion with garlic and oregano in shortening until tender.

Add cabbage; cook until just tender.

Add bean with bacon soup; gradually stir in water. Add remaining ingredients except cheese. Heat; Stir occasionally.

Recipe may be doubled.

Makes about 6 cups
