Recipe: Japanese White Dipping Sauce

Toppings - Sauces and Gravies
JAPANESE DIPPING SAUCE
Source: Sid Lanier/alt.food.sushi/2001-02-03

This dipping sauce is sometimes called "ice cream sauce" in some Japanese restuarants, here is a recipe. It makes about 1 and 1/3 cups:

3/4 cup Hellman's mayonnaise
1/2 cup half-and-half cream
Juice from one lemon (fresh)
1 level teaspoon Ketchup
1/2 teaspoon cider vinegar
1/3 cup white sugar
1 Tablespoon honey
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon paprika powder
1/4 teaspoon cream-style prepared grated horseradish (Kraft brand usually
found in the dairy section)

Put the mayonnaise in a bowl and gradually pour in the cream while stirring, so as to prevent lumping and to get a smooth mixture. Then add the other ingredients and stir well, until you are sure the sugar is dissolved. Store in the refrigerator. So, there you have it to me from Honorable chef at Kyoto's. Nothing to it. Enjoy.

Happy Cooking,

Betsy
