I just had to post to this recipe. I too have the original recipe paper work for the lamb mold, which I inherited from my grandmother.
The recipe listed has some quantities of the ingredients listed in correctly.
SHOWN IN RECIPE:
2 cups sifted cake flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2/3 cup milk
Raisin, cherry
THE ACTUAL ORIGINAL RECIPE:
(* shows different amount):
2 cups sifted cake flour
3 tsp baking powder
* 1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter
* 1 1/8 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
* 3/4 cup milk
In addition, I have found cutting a black jelly bean in half for the eyes, and half a red jelly bean for the nose works/looks better than the raisin (not very eye-like) and the cherry (which has a tendency to 'bleed' into the frosting). As the cake is traditionally served at Easter, jelly beans are always on hand. Chocolate chips also work well for the eyes!
