Recipe: Lighter Chocolate Chip Cookies (Betty Crocker recipe)

LIGHTER CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

3/4 cup white granulated sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
3/4 cup butter or margarine (stick, not tub), softened
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup miniature chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

Mix sugars, margarine, egg and vanilla together in large bowl.

Stir in flour, baking soda and salt (dough will be stiff). Stir in chocolate chips. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake 8 to 10 minutes, or until light brown (centers will be soft). Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet. Cool on wire rack.

Makes 48 cookies
