Recipe: Meal-In-A-Loaf (using Italian bread) (Kraft Parmesan Cheese, 1981)

1 lb. ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
1 (4-oz.) can mushrooms, drained
1/2 cup (2 oz.) KRAFT Grated Parmesan Cheese
1 1/2 cups (6 oz.) shredded KRAFT Sharp Natural Cheddar Cheese
1 Italian bread loaf
Brown meat; drain.
Add onion, green pepper and mushrooms; cook until tender.
Add parmesan cheese and half of cheddar cheese; stir until cheddar cheese is melted.
Cut lengthwise slice from top of bread; scoop out center, leaving 1-inch shell. Fill with meat mixture and remaining cheddar cheese. Cover with top bread slice; place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 400 degrees F for 10 minutes.
TO COOK IN A MICROWAVE:
Crumble meat in 2-quart casserole or bowl, Add onion and green pepper; microwave on High 5 minutes or until meat loses pink color when stirred. Drain. Add mushrooms, parmesan cheese and half of cheddar cheese; microwave 2 minutes. Stir. Continue as directed. Wrap filled bread loaf in paper towels; microwave 3 minutes.
Makes 8 servings
