MEATBALLS ITALIAN STYLE
A family recipe handed down
1 pound ground beef or chuck
1 egg
1/2 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
salt, pepper, onion salt, celery salt (to taste)
Place ground beef in a large bowl. Add one egg and breadcrumbs, and seasonings to taste. Mix together well.
Pinch off enough meat to make balls the size of a golf ball.
Place enough water (about 1/2 cup) in a large skillet to cover the bottom. Place formed meatballs in the skillet and cook to brown on all sides (keep turning until all sides are brown)*.
Transfer into prepared sauce cook for about 1 hour on medium heat (this is a very soft meatball and tasty). These meatballs will melt in your mouth.
*You can also skip the browning part in the skillet and place the meatballs directly into the sauce and cook. They will have a little more flavor than browning them in the skillet.
This is a recipe from my family in Campanago Italy. Handed down from my great-great-grandmother to my grandmother to my mother and her 2 sisters.
Hope you enjoy this. If you have any questions just let me know and I will try and help. Good luck
