Recipe(tried): Mirro Vanilla Cookies (Mirro Cookie Press, 1950's)

Desserts - Cookies, Brownies, Bars
This is from the real old booklet that came with my Mother's cookie press back in the 50's. It has different recipes than are in the more contemporary booklets.

VANILLA COOKIES FOR THE MIRRO COOKIE PRESS

1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 tablespoon cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Cream the shortening and add sugar gradually. Add the eggs, cream and vanilla extract and beat the mixture very well.

Sift flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg and gradually add to the first mixture. Stir until blended well.

Fill the cookie press and bake at 375 degrees F for 8-10 minutes.
