Recipe(tried): Mrs. Food, Recipe for Nanaimo Bars

Hi Mrs. Food;
I got this recipe from a canadian friend, she was living here at the time but now lives in Nova Scotia. I'm happy to be sharing it with you and everyone here at TKL and i hope you will share it as well.
NANAIMO BARS
Bottom layer
1/2 cup butter
5 Tbsp. sugar
2 Tbsp. cocoa
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup flaked coconut
Combine softened butter, sugar, cocoa,vanilla and egg. Mix well. Add graham crumbs, coconut and walnuts. Again mix well and pack into an ungreased 8" square pan.
Middle layer
4 Tbsp. butter
2 Tbsp. vanilla custard powder
3 Tbsp. milk
2 cups powdered sugar
Dissolve custard powder in milk. Add to softened butter, and mix in the powdered sugar. Blend well. Spread over bottom layer and allow to harden.
Top layer
3 squares semi-sweet chocolate
1 Tbsp. butter
Melt butter and chocolate. Cool slightly and spread over the middle layer. Store in the fridge.
Hint: Cut squares before the chocolate is completely set or with a warmed knife to keep the chocolate from cracking. These squares freeze well and should be thawed in the fridge.
NOTE: In recent years I've used egg beaters instead of raw egg, since it doesn't get cooked.
