Nutty Orange Icebox Cookies

Makes about 7 dozen
1 cup soft butter
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
2 tsp. grated orange peel
3 cups regular all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup finely minced walnuts
Mix together butter and sugars until blended; add egg and beat until fluffy. Stir in orange peel.
Sift flour, measure and mix with the soda, salt and nuts. Add in small portions to better mixture, mixing well after each addition.
Divide dough in half and shape each into a roll 7 inches long and 2 1/2 inches in diameter. Wrap in waxed paper and chill until firm.
Cut into slices about 1/8 inch thick. (I like mine a little thicker.)
Bake on greased cookie sheets in a 375 deg. F. oven for 12 minutes, or until edges are very lightly browned.
