OLD-FASHIONED BUTTERSCOTCH
2 cups brown sugar
1/4 cup molasses
1/2 cup butter
2 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons vinegar
Place all ingredients in a large saucepan. Stir ingredients over high heat until the sugar is dissolved. Boil quickly stirring frequently until mixture reaches the hard crack stage 300 degrees.
Drop candy from a teaspoon on to a buttered pan or foil to form patties.
Makes 1 pound
