ONION BREAD
1 cup warm water
1 pkg. dry yeast
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
3 cups flour
1/4 cup margarine, melted
Chopped onion
2 tsp. paprika
Salt (to taste)
Grated parmesan cheese (optional)
Dissolve yeast in 1 cup warm water. Add sugar, 1 teaspoon salt and flour; beat until stiff. Knead, put in bowl. Cover and let rise 1 hour.
Divide dough in half. Cover and rest 5 minutes.
Pat into two greased (9-inch) round cake pans. Brush tops with margarine, sprinkle with onion. Press into dough. Let rise uncovered 45 minutes.
Sprinkle with salt and paprika.
Bake at 375 degrees F for 20 to 25 minutes or until light brown. Can also be sprinkled with Parmesan cheese.

This isn't a batter bread and the source wasn't given, but it's the closest fit to your description that I've found so far. We'll keep looking!
