Recipe: Praline Pecan Crunch (2)

Misc.

Hi Peg,

I haven't heard of the company you mentioned, but here are two old recipes that sound similar to what you're describing.

Happy Holidays,

Praline Mix

6 cups any Chex cereal (2 cups Rice, 2 cups Wheat, 2 cups Corn)
3/4 cup margarine, melted
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 cup whole pecans

Melt brown sugar and margarine in a saucepan; boil for 2 minutes.
Pour over cereal and nuts.
Mix together and bake on cookie sheet for 4-5 minutes at 350 degrees.
Stir after 2 minutes.
Cool and store in tightly covered container.

Praline Pecan Crunch (Party Mix)

1 (16 oz.) pkg. Quaker Oat Squares cereal
2 cups pecan pieces
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup margarine (1/2 stick)
1 tsp. baking soda

Heat oven to 250 degrees F.
Combine cereal and pecans in 13x9 inch pan, set aside.
Combine corn syrup, brown sugar and margarine in saucepan.
Heat to boil over medium heat.
Remove from heat; stir in vanilla and baking soda.
Pour over cereal mixture; stir to coat evenly.
Bake 1 hour stirring every 20 minutes.
(Note from Betsy: I question whether the one hour baking time is correct - watch closely)
Spread on baking sheet to cool.
Break into pieces.

Makes 10 cups
