Recipe(tried): Pumpkin Trifle (using cake mix)

I tried this dish at a potluck and had to get the recipe. It's wonderful, with a holiday feel. Serve it in a glass bowl, it looks pretty.

Pumpkin Trifle

apple cake mix
whatever other ingredients the cake mix calls for
1 can pumpkin (not pie mix)
2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1/4 cup caramel ice cream topping
1 small box instant butterscotch pudding
2 cups milk
1 (8 oz) tub Cool Whip

Mix cake according to instructions. Add half can pumpkin to batter. Bake according to instructions and let cool. Cut into bite size pieces. In a bowl, mix pudding, milk, remainder of canned pumpkin, and pie spice. Let set while you make up the rest. In another bowl, combine Cool Whip and caramel. Layer in trifle bowl 1/4 cake, 1/2 pudding mix, 1/4 cake, 1/2 cool whip mix. Repeat, ending with cool whip mix. Refrigerate 2 hours. Enjoy!
