Recipe(tried): Rocks or Hermit Cookies for Dot

Desserts - Cookies, Brownies, Bars
Dot, my Mom and Grandma referred to these as "Rocks" or "Hermits". It's a very old recipe.Doesn't say what size to make them, all it said, really, was, "Drop on baking sheet. Bake at 35o for 20 minutes. Makes 48 cookies." Hope it's what you are looking for. I will check my older cookbooks for you, too.

ROCKS

1 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup raisins
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Cream shortening and brown sugar. Set aside. Blend in eggs. Mix together dry ingredients and stir into shortening mixture. Stir in raisins and nuts. Drop onto greased baking sheets. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes. Makes 48.
