Recipe(tried): Saturday Night Supper

Misc.
Last night for supper we had: Debbie's Salisbury Steak with gravy, smashed garlic potatoes, zipper cream peas, sliced tomatoes, rolls, sweet tea with lemon, banana pudding, and Marbled Chocolate Bundt Cake.

I'm posting the two new recipes. The salisbury steak and gravy is one that I made up as I cooked. The chocolate cake is from a new cookbook that I just received yesterday--SOUTHERN LIVING OUR BEST EASY WEEKNIGHT FAVORITES. This is a great cookbook!

DEBBIE'S SALISBURY STEAK WITH GRAVY

1 1/2 pounds ground chuck
2 T. Heinz 57 Sauce
2 T. A-1 Sauce
1 tsp. minced garlic
seasoned salt and pepper
2 T. olive oil

Put all of the ingredients into a large bowl and mix thoroughly. Shape the ground chuck into 6 patties. Heat the olive oil in a skillet until it sizzles. Put the patties into the oil and cook on both sides, just until brown. Remove the patties from the skillet and drain on paper towels.

After browning the patties, I put the beef into the AROMA Roaster and set it for 325.

GRAVY

1 red bell pepper, seeded and sliced into thin strips
1 (8 oz.) pkg. mushrooms, washed and sliced
1 large onion, sliced and separated into rings
1 T. butter
1 can golden mushroom soup
1 can beef broth
4 T. Wondra Flour
1/4 cup white wine

In a large skillet, melt the butter. Add the mushrooms, bell pepper, and onion. Cook for 3-5 minutes or until onions are transparent. Add the golden mushroom soup and the white wine. In a small bowl, combine the Wondra Flour and the beef broth. Add to the veggie/soup mixture. Pour all of this over the beef patties in the roaster. Cook for 45 minutes or until patties are done.

If you don't have a roaster, use your oven.MARBLED CHOCOLATE BUNDT CAKE

1 pkg. devil's food cake mix without pudding
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 cup (6 oz.) semisweet chocolate morsels

Prepare cake mix batter according to package directions; stir in vanilla. Pour batter into a grased and floured 12-cup Bundt pan; set aside.

Beat cream cheese and sugar at medium speed of an electric mixer until fluffy. Add egg, beating well; stir in chocolate morsels. Spoon cream cheese mixture into center of batter, leaving a border around outer edge. Gently swirl batter with a knife to create a marbled effect.

Bake at 350 for 45 minutes. Let cool in pan on a wire rack for 10-15 minutes; remove from pan, and let cool completely.

Delicious!
