SAUCEPAN FUDGE CRACKLE COOKIES

1 cup flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 cup butter
3 squares (1 oz. each) unsweetened chocolate
1 cup plus 3 tbsp. sugar, divided use
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Mix flour, baking powder and salt; set aside.

Put butter and chocolate in microwave until melted; cool.

Add 1 cup sugar, eggs, vanilla and nuts to the chocolate mixture and stir until blended. Stir in flour mixture. Cover and chill 1 1/2 to 2 hours, until firm.

WHEN READY TO BAKE:
Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.

Roll into dough balls. Roll in remaining 3 tablespoons sugar to coat and place 2-inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake for 18-20 minutes.

Makes 25 cookies (I usually triple or quadruple the recipe)
