Recipe: School Cafeteria Potato Turbate (using ground beef, 1960's)

SCHOOL CAFETERIA POTATO TURBATE

5 hot boiled potatoes
1/2 cup hot milk
3 tbsp butter
1 tsp salt
Few grains pepper

Mash potatoes and add hot milk, butter, salt and pepper. Beat until creamy.

Cook the following items in skillet to which 2 or 3 tbsp of fat have been added:
2 tbsp chopped onion
1 tbsp chopped parsley
1 pound ground beef chuck
Salt and ground black pepper (to taste)

Cover bottom of small greased baking dish with one half of mashed potatoes. Spread ground beef mixture on potato layer. Top with the remaining mashed potatoes. Dot with butter and sprinkle with paprika.

Bake in 425 degrees F oven long enough to brown top.

Serves 6
