Recipe: Side Dishes Using Canned/Dried Soup (9)

BROWN RICE

1 stick of butter
1 onion, chopped
2 cans of beef consomme or beef bouillon
1 cup rice, uncooked
1 small can of mushrooms, undrained

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Saute onions in butter. Add soup and mushrooms. Pur rice in casserole dish and top with soup mixture. Stir well. Bake uncovered for 1 hour. Susan,IL (11:05:14 AM) :

This is probably a re-post, but my family loves it! Goes great as a side dish with the meat patties.

CLASSIC GREEN BEAN BAKE

Serving Size : 6

1 can Cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon soy sauce
2 cans green beans
1 can french fried onions, -- divided
1 dash pepper

In 1 1/2 quart casserole, combine soup, milk, soy sauce and pepper. Stir in green beans and 1/2 can onions. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until hot; stir. Top with remaining onions. bake 5 minutes more.Ann,MS (11:15:42 AM) : Ann,MS (11:15:13 AM) :

QUICK CORNBREAD DRESSING

When making cornbread, freeze leftovers (or if desperate, use a mix or make from scratch.)

For approximately 1 qt. cornbread crumbs, saute 1 large onion, 3-4 stalks celery, green pepper to taste (all chopped) in 1 c. butter.

Mix sauteed mixture with crumbs. Add:
1 can chicken broth
2 eggs, slightly beaten
about 1 Tbsp chipotle chiles in sauce (OPT.)
1 can creamed soup (mushroom, cream of chicken or celery)
2-3 hard-cooked eggs (opt.)

Mix and turn into a well-greased baking dish (9x13). Bake at 350 about 45 minutes.

CABBAGE CASSEROLE

1 medium cabbage
1 small jar pimento
1 small pkg. slivered almonds
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1 can cream of mushroom soup

Chop cabbage. boil for 5 minutes in salted water. Drain. Mix other ingredients with cabbage. Spray casserole dish with PAM. Top with seasoned cracker crumbs. (Ritz crackers and butter). bake 30 minutes ina 375 oven.

ENCORE POTATOS

1 1/2 pounds new potatoes, unpeeled
Seasoned salt
3/4 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup chicken broth
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

Wash and slice potatoes and place in a 9X9" baking dish. Sprinkle with seasoned salt. Mix cream with broth and pour over potatoes. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 30 mintues. Uncover and bake 30 minutes. SPrinkle with cheese and bake until cheese is melted. This can easily be doubled.

SQUASH CASSEROLE

2 cups cooked squash
3 eggs separated
1 large onion, finely chopped
1 stick butter
1 can cream of chicken soup
8 Ritz crackers crushed and added to mixture
2 T. sugar
Salt and pepper to taste

Mix all ingredients except egg whites. Beat the egg whites until stiff. Fold the egg whites in last. Pour into baking dish. Cover with buttered bread crumbs. Bake until bread crumbs turn
golden brown. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes.

ROASTED RED POTATOES

Spray oven proof skillet or dish with Pam, pierce each red potatoe with a knife or fork a few times, cover potatoes with one package Lipton onion soup mix and 1/4 cup of water, cover with lid, bake at 350 for one hour

OVEN ROASTED POTATOES

1 Envelope Lipton onion Mushroom soup mix
2 lb Potatoes, chunked
1/3 c Oil

preheat oven to 450 degrees. In large plastic bag or bowl add all ingredients, close bag and shake, or toss in bowl, until potatoes are evenly coated. Empty potatoes into shallow baking or roasting pan; discard bag, bake stirring occasionally, 40 minutes or until potatoes are tender and golden brown. Garnish, if desired with chopped fresh parsley

Hello...tried and true recipe..from a fund raiser we did..

POTATOES..LIPTON ONION SOUP..AND OIL..

about 2 lbs potatoes.. (red work well too)
1 packet of the soup mix
1/2 C. oil

cut the potatoes in small pieces fold in onion soup and oil..bake..25-30 minutes..soooo good. goes with anything.
