SPICED PEARS
5 cups brown sugar (around 1 bag)
2 cups white vinegar
ground cinnamon (add enough to your taste)
pears (add enough to your pot to fill your liquids)
Cook sugar, vinegar and spices 20 minutes. Drop fruit, few at a time. Cook until tender. Pack in hot, sterilized jars. Add syrup to 1/2 inch of top. Seal. Process filled jars in boiling water bath canner for approx. 20 - 25 minutes. Let stand for another 5 inutes and take out.
They will start popping within a 1/2 hour.
This has been my first week of canning anything.
I was scared at first to try but after 1 week of canning it seems like I've been doing this longer.
I built shelves down my basement in a section that was being made when I bought the house about 8 years ago.
Heres what I canned this week, my first week.

21 jars (16oz) Italian Style Diced Tomatoes
2 jars (32oz) Italian Style Diced Tomatoes
6 jars (32oz) Spiced Pears
