Recipe(tried): Split Pea Soup

Soak 1 lb Split Peas overnight. Drain.

Add 2 1/2 quarts of water
1 meaty ham bone
1 1/2 cups chopped onion
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 tsp garlic salt
1/4 tsp marjoram (I love marjoram and sometimes use closer to a whole
teaspoon!)

Simmer for two hours. Remove bone, cut off meat and return meat to soup.
Add 1 cup diced celery
1 cup sliced carrots
1 teaspoon parsley flakes

Cook slowly 45 minutes. Salt to taste. Serves 8 - 10

I like top with homemade croutons and sometimes we will throw in a couple
of sliced hotdogs for the kids.
