State Fair French Donuts
From: Daniel Reemes - Cooking Echo

3 cups Flour
1 pkg. Dry yeast
1/2 tsp. Ground nutmeg
1 cup Milk
1/4 cup Sugar
1/4 cup Oil
3/4 tsp. Salt
1 Egg
Fat for deep frying
Sugar glaze

Combine 1 1/2 cups flour, the yeast and nutmeg. Combine milk, sugar, oil and salt; heat until warm. Add to dry ingredients and add egg. Beat at low speed on electric mixer for 1/2 minute. Beat 3 minutes at high speed. By hand, stir in remaining flour to make a soft dough. Place dough in greased bowl and turn once. Cover and chill. Place dough on lightly floured surface, cover and let rest 10 minutes. Roll dough to 18x12-inch rectangle. Cut into donut shapes. Cover again and let rise 30 minutes. Fry in deep, hot (375 degrees) fat until golden, turning once. Drain and drizzle with sugar glaze.

Sugar glaze:
To 2 cups powdered sugar, add 1 Tbsp. melted butter, 1/2 tsp. vanilla and enough milk to make thin glaze.
