STRAWBERRY SHORTILLA
1 1/2 cups sugar, divided use
12 cups sliced strawberries
12 medium flour tortillas
1/4 cup butter
1 (8 ounce) container whipped topping, thawed
Add 1 cup sugar to strawberries and let sit 20 to 30 minutes.
Cut tortillas into 3- to 4-inch circles, using a small bowl as a guide. Saute each tortilla circle in 1 teaspoon butter until lightly crisp. Using tongs, remove from frying pan and sprinkle each side with 1 teaspoon sugar.
Place one tortilla circle on a plate. Top with 1/2 cup strawberries. Place another tortilla circle on top and top with 1/2 cup more strawberries. Top with a large dollop of whipped topping.
Makes 6 servings
