REBA MCENTIRE'S STRAWBERRY COBBLER
"Reba's cobbler is a favorite recipe donated by Norma Jones, mother of Reba's bus driver."
2 pkg (10 oz each) frozen strawberries*
3/4 cup water
2 1/2 cups sugar, divided use
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1 cup milk
1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.
Thaw strawberries and mix with 3/4 cup water. Mash strawberries and water together with 1 cup sugar; set aside.
Mix flour with remaining 1 1/2 cups sugar, baking powder and milk.
Pour melted butter in 9x13-inch glass baking dish. Pour in flour mixture. Pour strawberry mixture on top of flour mixture.
Bake 40 to 50 minutes.
*You may substitute other fruits for a variety of delicious cobblers.
Makes 8 servings
