THE BEST STOVE-TOP CHOCOLATE COOKIES
Source: Ruth Ann Swanger
Note from source: There are lots of recipes for stove-top chocolate cookies out there, but the real butter and evaporated milk make these the best I've ever tasted - everyone who has ever tasted my cookies agrees!
6 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups unsalted butter
1 1/2 cups (1 can) evaporated milk
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
12 tablespoons cocoa (I prefer Dutch process)
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups peanut butter
7 1/2 cups oats
Mix sugar, butter, milk, salt, and cocoa in a Dutch oven. Bring to a rolling boil; boil exactly 2 minutes. Add vanilla, peanut butter, and oats. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto waxed paper.
