Recipe(tried): Tip: How to clean your drain with baking soda and vinegar
Tips and Tricks - Home and GardenIf any of you are like me and live in an old house that doesn't have a garbage disposal (or even if you do) and every once in awhile your drain gets to smelling used. I do this at least once a month. It helps cut any residue build up and keeps things smelling nice and fresh.
Pour as much baking soda down the drain and will go. Next take a large bottle of white vinegar and pour at least a quart down each drain. Let this sit for about 15 to 20 minutes. Then pour a whole pot of boiling hot water down the drain. It tends to look like a science experiment but trust me it works. Also, it isn't harmful for the PVC pipes or the environment.
