Recipe(tried): tomato preserves

Misc.

Hi Barb, have you ever tried the tomato preserves recipe? here it is . Really vbvery simple but very good.
5 cups ripe tomatoes, peeled and chopped 4 cups sugar
1 Tablespoon lemon juice 1 6-ounce package red jello
In a large kettle ccombine tomatoes and sugar. Stir over high heat until mixture comes to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Removefrom heat and add gelatin. Make sure it is completely dissolved. Pour into freexer container, or store in frigidare. Makes 8-1/2 pints. 1/@ margarine containers are greeat!

Also you can make this with green tomatoes, just omit the lemon juice.
It must be refrigerated or frozen. Besides red jello I have used peach and apricot. I leave the seeds in but you can remove them. Enjoy Theresa from oh
