I frequently cook a turkey in my crock pot. I have a large oval shaped crock pot by Magic Chef. I usually select a turkey which is between 7 to 10 lbs. After thawing according to the directions on the wrapper, I wash the bird in cold running water, drain and then season the cavity with salt, pepper, and poultry seasoning. I then place the bird upside down (breast down) in the crock pot. Turn on the crock pot on high for one hour, then turn to low and let the turkey cook for 6 to 8 hours. The meat will be very flavorful, but the skin will not be brown. Enjoy!
