Recipe: Vanilla Chai Recipes - 6 (NOT Dunkin Donuts)

VANILLA CHAI TEA MIX

Makes 8 cups tea
2 teaspoons black pepper
2 teaspoons fresh ginger root
6 pods cardamom
10 inches cinnamon stick
3 teaspoons cloves
8 teaspoons loose Darjeeling tea or 8 teabags
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 teaspoons honey
Crush the first five ingredients together. Add to 8 cups of water. Bring to a boil and cook on medium for 10 minutes.
Add loose tea or bags. Steep for about 8 minutes. Strain out the spices and tea. Add vanilla extract and honey.
This can be refrigerated for weeks. To use: Heat up as needed and add an equal amount of steamed milk. Top with cinnamon.

Makes 4 servings
A spiced Indian tea, Chai is an exotically delicious alternative to coffee drinks. To make Iced Vanilla Chai, refrigerate until cold and serve over ice.
2 cups water
2 sticks cinnamon, broken
3 cardamom pods, crushed
2 bags black tea
2 cups 8th Continent vanilla soymilk
Honey, if desired
In 2-quart saucepan, heat water, cinnamon and cardamom to boiling over high heat, stirring occasionally.
Remove from heat; add tea bags. Let stand 5 minutes. Strain tea; discard spices and tea bags.
Return tea mixture to saucepan; stir in soymilk. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until hot. Sweeten to taste with honey. Pour into 4 mugs. Serve immediately.

In a small saucepan, heat milk, chai powder or concentrate; heat and pour into a thermos.
